Understanding Housing and Homelessness Issues in Richmond County and Strait Area
Dr. Lilla Roy, Cape Breton University, and Amanda Mombourquette, Strait-Richmond Housing Matter Coalition will work together with their teams to improve the data required to make decisions on affordable housing in the region.

Rural Nova Scotia faces unique challenges with respect to housing. The partners of the Strait Richmond Housing Matters Coalition have identified a lack of data in their communities to support policy decisions regarding housing options. These options are greatly needed by many groups including seniors, youth as well as those who experience family violence, homelessness, addictions, and mental health issues. The lack of adequate and affordable housing is an important challenge for rural Nova Scotia.
