Rural Agri-Business and Immigrant Engagement
Dr. Claudia DuFeuentes from Saint Mary’s University is working with Chris Atwood, Executive Director of CBDC Bluewater to explore the potential to attract immigrants with agri-business skills and expertise to the Eastern Shore region of Nova Scotia.
This project addresses a complex challenge that could lead to economic development in rural Nova Scotia: how to improve retention and capacity within the agri-food industry through engaging immigrants and refugees interested in agricultural production and processing. Dr. Claudia De Fuentes will work with Chris Atwood of CBDC Blue Water to convene key stakeholders and look at opportunities and strategies for linking newcomers and the agri-food industry.
